What is the difference between IELTS Academic and IELTS General?
There are four sections in the IELTS test: Listening Reading, Writing, and Speaking.
In the IELTS Academic, the reading and writing tasks are based on academic materials and require a higher level of understanding and analysis. In the IELTS General Training, the reading and writing tasks are based on general interest topics and focus on practical skills such as letter writing and basic report writing.
Overall, the choice between the two types of IELTS exams depends on the individual's goals and needs. Candidates should choose the exam that best fits their specific requirements and objectives.
How much does the IELTS test cost?
The cost of the test will vary based on types of Tests and country by country.
The IELTS cost for Academic and General Training in Indonesia is IDR 3,000,000 for either Paper or Computer base.
IELTS UKVI (Academic/General) costs IDR 3, 317,000
IELTS life Skill (A1 and B1) costs IDR 2, 700, 000
The pricing is subject to daily fluctuations based on the prevailing exchange rates. Please check with your local official Test Center for an updated price.
Are the IELTS Computer base test and Paper Test different?
Yes, the IELTS computer-based test and paper-based test are different in terms of their format and delivery method.
The paper-based test is delivered in a physical format where the test taker fills in the answer sheet using a pencil or pen. The listening, reading, and writing sections of the test are administered on paper, while the speaking test is conducted face-to-face with an examiner.
On the other hand, the computer-based test is delivered via a computer. The listening, reading, and writing sections of the test are conducted on a computer, while the speaking test is still conducted face-to-face with an examiner. In the computer-based test, test takers will read the questions on a computer screen and select their answers by clicking on the options.
While the content and scoring of both versions of the test are the same, there may be slight differences in the administration and format of certain tasks. It's important for test takers to choose the format that suits their preferences and abilities.
How is the speaking test conducted for the computer base test?
For the computer-based IELTS speaking test, the speaking section is still conducted face-to-face with a certified IELTS examiner. However, instead of being conducted in person, the speaking test is conducted through a video call on a computer.
Test takers will sit in front of a computer screen with a webcam and a microphone. The examiner will appear on the screen and will conduct the speaking test in the same way as for the paper-based test. The speaking test consists of a 11-14 minute conversation with the examiner, during which the test taker will be asked a series of questions about familiar topics, such as family, work, hobbies, and interests.
The test taker's responses will be recorded by the examiner and will be assessed according to the same criteria as for the paper-based test. The computer-based speaking test is designed to be just as rigorous and reliable as the paper-based test, while offering the convenience and flexibility of taking the test on a computer.
What if I am not satisfied with my results?
If you are not satisfied with your IELTS results, you have the option to request a re-evaluation of your test or to retake the test.
To request a re-evaluation, you can submit an Enquiry on Results (EOR) form within six weeks of the test date. The EOR process involves having your test re-marked by an additional examiner. However, please note that there is a fee for this service and there is no guarantee that your score will change.
